Senior UX Designer & Product Strategist

Creating strategic & accessible digital experiences

I'm Tine Lavrysen, a Senior UX Designer & Product Strategist at icapps in Antwerp. I bridge the gap between complex technology and human needs. With a foundation in Industrial Design and a focus on inclusive strategy, I help organizations build digital products that are as accessible as they are impactful.

My Journey

From engineering solar race cars and children's toys to designing digital experiences

Exploded view of a pair of electric scissors
2003 - 2006

BSc Industrial Design Engineering

Delft University of Technology

Started my journey in user-centered design, learning to create innovative tangible products that solve real problems. This foundation taught me to think about ergonomics, usability, and human factors from day one.

Nuna4 Solar Car - World Champion

Ergonomics & Public Relations

Designed the ergonomics for Nuna4, the 2007 world champion in solar-powered car racing. I ensured the driver could survive 5 hours of non-stop driving in extreme Australian desert conditions while managing the car's complex interface.

This experience taught me how to design for extreme constraints, optimize human-machine interaction under pressure, and prioritize both safety and performance.

Manufacturing the prototype of Superbus, a sustainable public transport concept. I worked with vacuum infusion techniques for carbon fibre and glass fibre in a multidisciplinary, international team led by Dutch former astronaut Wubbo Ockels and Formula 1 engineer Antonia Terzi.

MSc Design for Interaction

Delft University of Technology

Deepened my expertise in interaction design, user research, and human-product interaction. I learned how to implement knowledge from behavioral sciences and translate new technologies into design opportunities.

I chose to specialize in "Technology in Sustainable Development", combined with elective courses on Product-Service Systems, Design for Children's Play and Internationalisation.

Internship

Philips Research, Eindhoven

At Philips, I worked on my Master's Thesis. I completed a project on how families with children could save energy by playing a game together. The project was on the intersection of design for sustainability, interaction design, game design and design for behaviour change.

As a finalist in the Best Graduates competition, I also won a trip to visit the Philips Innovation Campus in Shanghai, China.

Senior UX Consultant

Human Interface Group

This marked my transition from physical product design into digital product design. I spent 4 years consulting on digital product design for diverse clients. Human Interface Group was a Belgian UX consultancy firm, currently part of PriceWaterhouseCoopers Digital Services Belgium. Honed my skills in user research, wireframing, prototyping, and stakeholder management across industries.

During my time at Human Interface Group, I have been working on UX projects for major Belgian and international companies such as USG People, Pentair, ETAP Lighting, DHL and GDF Suez.

Next to that, I also worked on a European research collaboration, Smarcos, with amongst others Philips, Honeywell and Nokia. The topic of our research was the usability for the Internet of Things, where services are offered across multiple devices and platforms.

Senior UX Designer & Product Strategist

icapps

Leading UX design and research for mobile and web applications. Facilitating workshops, mentoring junior designers, and championing accessibility.

After managing a team of 15 strategists and designers, I realized my passion lies in hands-on work—researching, designing, and solving problems directly with users.

In 2017 I was nominated for Data News’ Young ICT Lady of the Year. In 2024 I celebrated my 10 year anniversary at icapps by getting IAAP certified (CPACC), confirming my ongoing efforts into accessibility.

Selected Work

At icapps I’ve worked for large Belgian and international clients such as Telenet, Mediahuis, Mobile Vikings, NMBS, Keytrade Bank and Technicolor (now Vantiva). I also made a difference for promising start-ups like Zembro, Connective (now Nitro) and Qover. Below are a few featured projects:

Usually I'm working on multiple projects in parallel, where I facilitate workshops, observe users through site visits, wireframe and fine-tune based on user feedback.

KBC Bolero

icapps has been KBC Bolero's digital partner for over 10 years. In 2018 I acted as the internal Product Owner for Bolero. I lead the discussions with the client around functionality, scope and the future roadmap. I also created analytics dashboards to get more insights into user behavior in the app.

At the moment, I'm assisting them on improving the accessibility of their apps.

Web Mobile UX Design User Testing

My Approach

Great UX comes from understanding both user needs and business goals. Through strategic workshops, research, and inclusive design, I help teams build products that work for everyone.

01

Strategic Workshops

I facilitate workshops to build product roadmaps, define MVPs, and map technological opportunities to business needs.

02

User Research & Service Design

Through interviews, observations, personas, and empathy maps, I uncover user needs and translate them into actionable insights.

03

UX Design & Coaching

From wireframes to interactive prototypes, I design and validate solutions through usability testing. I also mentor junior designers, providing feedback and helping them develop their problem-solving skills.

04

Accessibility & Inclusion

WCAG compliance isn't a checkbox—it's built into every design decision from the start to ensure products work for everyone.
